Source: The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 amended the Employment Rights Act 1996 (Part IVA) to protect workers who make a 'protected disclosure' (a qualifying disclosure made in the public interest) from detriment and from dismissal. A worker subjected to a detriment, or dismissed, on the ground that they made a protected disclosure has a claim; dismissal on that ground is automatically unfair.
